Triglide® fenofibrate is indicated for three different diagnoses: primary hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia and severe hypertriglyceridemia. If any of your patients resemble these profiles, you may want to consider prescribing Triglide in addition to recommendations of diet and exercise.

Both parents living.  No cardiovascular events but both reportedly managing cholesterol with statin medications.
PAST MEDICAL HISTORY
Current prescription of generic statin medication, Atorvastatin, 20mg daily. Patient claims high compliance. Diagnosis of pre-diabetes within past 12 months. HbA1c level of 5.9%. No other medications.
DIAGNOSIS
Primary Hypercholesterolemia. Suspicion of statin intolerance.
THERAPY CONSIDERATIONS
Reduce saturated fats and trans fats in diet. Limit red meat and dairy products. Emphasize fruits, vegetables, whole grains. Triglide fenofibrate, 160mg daily.

Severe Hypertriglyceridemia.
THERAPY CONSIDERATIONS
High fiber, reduced calorie diet. Lean protein at all meals. Leafy salad greens. Depending on response, Triglide fenofibrate, 160mg daily.
